Good afternoon Gardeners. Bit late with our update this week due to staff vacations. Social media is likely to be quiet next week for the same reason. Firstly can we say “Thank you” to all who attended our tours last week. General consensus was that they were enjoyable & informative. For those of you who missed out, we are sorry but there are no more planned for the imminent future, but we are not ruling them out completely. Yes… it is that time again. Bulb time that is. We have received a very early delivery of Spring bulbs. It is obviously too early to contemplate planting many of these, but we know that gardeners like to be prepared. They will be fine if stored in the dry until you are ready to plant out. We are unlikely to have a full selection for another couple of weeks, but there is a good range in stock to start you off including Alliums, tulips, daffodils, snowdrops, crocus etc. Also a few varieties for immediate planting including autumn crocus. Another weather warning this week for the south & south east. Lawns & #gardens in general are looking dry & dishevelled. Please prioritise your watering to plants that definitely require water such as annuals, hanging baskets, potted plants etc. water is a valuable (& sometimes expensive) commodity. Whilst we do not want you to lose plants, we also do not want you to bankrupt yourselves or waste water unnecessarily. Lawns for example, may look like a beige mess, but they will recover. So unless your livelihood depends on a lush lawn, consider if watering it is the best use of this valuable resource. Try to store & use grey water, such as bath & washing up water, around the garden. Let’s try to avoid hosepipe bans in this area by careful, wise usage. That is all for today. Keep yourselves safe in your gardens. See you again in a couple of weeks. 09/08/22

Not many Garden Centres can boast over ninety years of history, and yes, we have seen many changes over that period. Indeed change will continue as we strive always to supply the best in plants and facilities. One thing, however, will never change:
The core philosophy first introduced by Archibald John Mills way back in 1928 remains - the philosophy that built the company’s reputation, sustains it now, and will guide it in the future:
The best way to keep gardeners happy is to offer them plants of the highest quality, sold at reasonable prices.Read more
